Back at Spurs Lodge, Martin Jol offers his final thoughts on Saturday's derby defeat and looks ahead to tonight's clash against Middlesbrough at the Lane.NORMALLY we would like to forget a game like Saturday, but we can’t just forget it because it was against Arsenal. We know it’s a very important game for the supporters – it’s all about pride, the Club, the Cockerel. We let ourselves down and let the fans down.

I still feel we were unfortunate with key decisions. The first goal was a mistake while the other two goals came from penalties and neither were penalties, but what can we say now? If you play as poorly as we played you can’t blame anyone else.

We are a fine team on our day like we showed in the games against Besiktas, Chelsea and five or six other times this season but we can be a different team at times, especially in away games. You have to be strong and last season we did that five or six times, kept clean sheets, defended well and showed desire. We have the quality, we now need to show that determination.

All we can do is put it right against Middlesbrough and I’m sure the fans will be right behind us again.

Middlesbrough are very organised, they play with five at the back and sometimes with a row of four in front in a 5-4-1 system, other times it’s 5-3-2. They don’t want to concede goals, that is their main focus and they are difficult to play against because they can hit you on the break.

We have to put things right and we want to do well for the supporters. It’s all about us.
