The Jol verdict

Posted on 30 July 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Martin Jol gives his post-match verdict as our pre-season programme continued with a 2-0 victory over Reading on Saturday.

READING PLAYED WELL and I've always thought they are a good footballing team. We had a good team out and the two strikers scored again, the only thing is we have to work on scoring goals from midfield.

I think there was some positive things to come out of the game, but we did look a bit tired. In the coming week we need to sharpen things up before we play Porto, which is the last test for us before the league starts again.

It is a very nice stadium here and, like I said, I think Reading play some good stuff and have some fine players. When we look at our own side, the midfield did well and Tainio looks like he has been a Spurs player forever.

Overall it was a good afternoon for us.

Radek Cerny came off before half-time with a cut on his head that needed three stitches. He is alright though and Paul Robinson should be fit in the next couple of weeks. Rob Burch showed he is a good young goalkeeper, he kept a clean sheet and
that is positive as well.
