Many people spoke about the need to be patient against Everton but it wasn't just about patience because you can be patient and still lose the game. Everton are so organised but we needed to score a goal so we had to stay organised ourselves, play in their half and be patient in not losing the ball and not try to force things.
We did well in the first half because we played over the flanks. Aaron Lennon was dangerous again with Paul Stalteri overlapping. In the second half we kept on playing the same way and the first goal came from the right flank with Mido showing he is one of the best headers of the ball out there. We have to get crosses in to make him strong.
JERMAINE JENAS IS A BOX TO BOX PLAYER AND HE PROVED IT WHEN JERMAIN DEFOE WENT WIDE FOR THE SECOND GOAL
He was in the box to score. We want to be a very good team and if you want to be in the top six, you need midfield players to score as well. That's a challenge because we're not known for that but we have to do it in the future.
People are saying nice things about us but what is very pleasing is when our philosophy comes off. Take Aaron for example and Wayne Routledge, you want them because they are talented flank players. Aaron has come in for Wayne - who was doing well for us before he got injured - and doing what we expect of him. That's marvellous.
Mido is the same. He came back in pre-season and looked well, he was more athletic and he has a great mentality for the games. He's showing it at the training ground as well. I'm pleased with him because he's involved in a lot of goals and assists.
We brought Edgar Davids in and every time he plays he gives me a good feeling because he wins a lot of balls and shows great mental strength. That was maybe one of the things last season that wasn't 100 per cent and we've improved on that.
