WE DIDN'T enjoy our trip to Selhurst Park on Saturday at all. Going into it we felt it was a game we could get something from and, even though they played well at our place a few weeks before, it shouldn't have posed us any more problems than we anticipated.
The fact that we didn't get anything out of the game was very disappointing. If I look at the first half period it was fairly even and we probably had the better of the possession. Going into the second half, the ten minute period before they scored was a spell where I thought we were starting to take a little bit more control.
It was a game of very few chances and, from our own point of view, we didn't create enough opportunities and didn't put them under enough pressure in the final third.
It has been mentioned that we are lacking the option of Fredi Kanoute and his height up front. Looking at the combinations, Fredi is a big part of what we are doing here, but we have two quality players in Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.
There has been and will be occasions when it is going to work very well with the two together, but there are going to be others - especially away - when it is a little bit of a different game and pitch where it will be difficult to give the front two the service they need.
Myself and Frank Arnesen travelled to Liverpool to watch our under-18 side in the FA Youth Cup. It doesn't matter how many games you go to, it is still a great occasion and you see the excitement these young lads have over playing on such great stages as White Hart Lane and Anfield.
It is absolutely fantastic and, it is in these sort of games, that you see their development and how they cope with the occasion.
