Goalkeeping coach Tony Parks on why his job is made easy by Brad, Carlo and Heurelho.

Goalkeeping coach Tony Parks has explained how Brad Friedel, Carlo Cudicini and Heurelho Gomes make his job a pleasure at Spurs.

The three goalkeepers have all played this season, with Brad wearing the gloves in the Premier League whilst Carlo and Heurelho have shared Europa League and Carling Cup duties.

The trio have impressed with Brad in particular, aged 40, earning plaudits for a headline-grabbing performance in the tough 3-1 win over Fulham last weekend.

"For me, it's an easy job because it's a pleasure to work for them," said Tony, of course, himself a former Spurs number one.

"They make my life easy; they do the work, they never question what I ask them to do and long may it continue.

"They are such good pros. They're a really easy group to work with. They come out, they work together, they get on together and they work really hard. They never shirk their training responsibilities.

"Brad, Carlo and Gomes all get on as friends, but they are rivals. They all want to play in the first team and they all want to play regularly. At the moment Brad's got the shirt, but when he sees Carlo playing like he did in the Europa League he knows that he needs to put a performance in on Sunday if called upon.

"Brad and Carlo have been in the game a long time. They use their experience and do that little bit extra that keeps them at the top. My job's made easy by the fact that they're top, top professional footballers."

Tony believes the experience of Brad and Carlo is such that his role as goalkeeping coach is made easier due to the players knowing and understanding their bodies so well.

"You have to make sure that the programme is right for them. There'll be days when they might come in and say to me 'I'm feeling a bit stiff today and I don't need to do as much', and I'm guided by them. It's not about how much coaching I can give them, it's about their performance.

"Good practice makes permanent and they practice to a very high standard."
