Steffen Iversen insists what he describes as 'the best squad since I've been here' needs to play European football.
A place in the UEFA is the ultimate prize when we take on Blackburn Rovers in the Worthington Cup Final on Sunday.
Steffen played 15 times in Europe for Rosenborg before joining us in 1996 but his European experience has been limited to just four games at Spurs after winning the same competition in 1999.
"We have to be in Europe," said Steffen. "We were there for a brief period in 1999, unlucky to go out at Kaiserslautern, now we've got an opportunity again.
"We have the best squad since I've been at the club, we score a lot of goals and are good defensively and I think we'll have a great chance if we can get there."
"If we win this final we're in Europe next season and it takes the pressure off for the rest of the season.
"We will be able to relax a little and won't have to win the FA Cup. We want to win it, but won't have to."
One of the aspects Steffen is enjoying most about Glenn Hoddle's new squad is the number of chances created for the strikers.
He added: "Chances come from everywhere now and it's just up to the strikers to be there to take them. In some games you do, sometimes it's harder.
"At the moment we're scoring from everywhere and it's great to play.
"There are so many people scoring, not just strikers, midfield as well. It's a good side to play in now.
"I just hope I can keep scoring the goals. That's my job and that's what I love to do most."
