The question is this: How can we transfer our almost unbeatable home form into points on the road in the Premiership?
So far this season we’ve won four out of five games at the Lane and drawn the other — a match we dominated against Manchester City.
But despite some encouraging performances we’ve suffered from travel sickness with four defeats and a draw in five games away from home.
What was the answer? Midfielder Stephen Clemence, who looks set to hold onto his place against Chelsea this weekend, is as bemused as the next man.
“The thing is, if we knew the answer we would be in the top three,” he admitted. “We’ve just got to keep plugging away. I don’t think we played well in the second half at Coventry but picked up in the second half and before that we were unfortunate at Leeds.
“I don’t think there have been that many poor performances but we’ve just needed a little rub of the green away from home, which we haven’t had.
“We’ve got get into the habit of winning rather than losing away from home. At the moment we’re in the habit of losing which isn’t good but we’re all working hard to get out of that habit.”
It’s a simple question but, at the moment, no-one seems to know the answer.
