Posted on 22 March 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

THE ABILITY COUNTS PROGRAMME

In partnership with the Football Association Tottenham Hotspur Community provide football opportunities for children with learning difficulties and/or disabilities within Haringey Special Needs schools. Ability Counts is a grassroots programme that begins to identify those players with potential to progress to national squads. The Football Association and the specific National Disability Sports organisations have responsibility to develop the disability player pathway, which enables players to reach their potential

Currently the Football Association supports six squads:
1.Amputees
2.Blind
3.CerebralPalsy
4.Deaf
5.Learning Disability
6. Partially Sighted

Ability Counts aims to:
· Prove that football is a game everyone can play
· Show that people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities should not be excluded from playing football or treated less seriously
· Actively increase the number of people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities playing football in England
· Raise the profile of football for people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
