Martin Jol stressed that in no way would we understimate the challenge of Anorthosis Famagusta when we meet the Cyprus side in the UEFA Cup.

The team managed by former Newcastle United striker Temura Ketsbaia arrive at the Lane for the first round, first leg tonight (Thursday September 20, 8pm).

"They are one of the best teams in the Cypriot league," said Martin. "They won the league title a couple of years ago and have played a number of times in the Champions League.

"They've been close to qualifying for the group stages of the Champions League and their big triumph was beating the Turkish side Trabzonspor in 2005. They then played Glasgow Rangers to qualify for the group stages but lost over two legs.

"Temur Ketsbaia (coach) is well appreciated there and has brought the team some success - he won the Cyprus equivalent of the FA Cup earlier this year.

"We've watched them, they are a good team and we would never underestimate a team like this - perhaps Trabzonspor did that a couple of years ago, but we won't.

"After a defeat you always want to do well in the next game and that's what we want."
