Martin Jol had words of praise for Teemu Tainio as he reported a clean bill of health for our trio of players returning from injury at Bayer Leverkusen.

Midfielder Teemu covered every blade of grass in his first game for the first team in two months after undergoing hernia surgery. He was joined by Pascal Chimbonda and Aaron Lennon in the line-up as Dimitar Berbatov's goal secured a 1-0 win and a place in the last 32.

"Teemu is a great character and he showed that by playing 90 minutes after being out for eight weeks," said Martin. "He played 45 minutes for the reserves on Monday, scored two goals and I had confidence in him.

"Teemu, Pascal and Aaron all came back, they did well and hopefully they will be fit enough for Sunday. Steed Malbranque is also looking fitter every week."

Steed made his first start for us in the UEFA Cup, his third appearance following hernia surgery.
