Less niggling injuries, more goals - Teemu Tainio was quick to outline his personal targets for next season.

Less niggling injuries, more goals - Teemu Tainio was quick to outline his personal targets for next season.

A number of minor problems including a badly cut eye, tonsillitis and various muscle tweaks restricted the all-action midfielder to 25 appearances last season.

If that wasn’t frustrating enough for the Finnish international, he was disappointed by his own goal output of just the one strike against Newcastle United on December 31.

“I’ve had to get used to these small injuries that keep me out for one or two weeks,†said Teemu. “It’s always hard to come back, you have to work twice as hard and hopefully I won’t have so many problems next season.

“I’ve played some good, some bad games but overall I’m happy and the only thing that really bothers me is that I didn’t score enough goals.

“It’s funny, when you look at the highlights on television, sometimes it’s all about luck. I had a lot chances but there was always a defender there to make a block or the keeper made the save. It’s something I’m looking to improve on.â€Â
