The all-action Finnish international - a Spurs fan from childhood back home in Tornio, near Lapland - came in for the suspended Edgar Davids and couldn't wait for the chance to take on our old foes from N5.
And the occasion didn't disappoint. Teemu, starting on the left, played a key role as we dominated and went 1-0 up in the first half, spilling blood for the cause after cutting his eye in an aerial challenge.
"I look like a boxer!" laughed Teemu afterwards, sporting a few stitches just above his left eye. "I was looking forward to the game all week and really enjoyed it.
The atmosphere was fantastic and the only sad point was that we didn't win
"Overall I was pleased with how it went and I suppose it says something that we're disappointed after a draw. We played really well in the first half but they came back in the second half, so perhaps a draw was about right."
Teemu agreed with the rest of the dressing room that we needed to capitalise further on that first half display.
"We had a couple of situations to score a second goal and that would have changed the game," he added. "But against a team like Arsenal you have to make the most of your chances.
"I think towards the end we started to tire both physically and mentally and as I said, I was happy enough with a point in the end."
Teemu Tainio's first North London derby certainly left a mark on the midfielder - in more ways than one!
