Teemu Tainio was fully aware of the high tempo of English football - but admitted it still took him by surprise when it came to actually playing.
The Finland international has been hugely impressive in our opening two games in the Barclays Premiership with the versatile midfielder having already operated in two positions across the middle. His energy, control and eye for a decisive pass has particularly caught the eye.
He has long been a fan of Spurs and English football and is naturally thrilled with our six-point beginning to the season ahead of our trip to Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.
"It is always nice to start with wins, everybody knows that, but we now head to Blackburn and that will be a very tough game," reasoned the 25-year-old.
"I always wanted to play in England and everything is going well. I knew before I came that the tempo is very high here, but still it was a very big surprise in the first games. I have to get used to it.
"I like the tempo and enjoy playing that way - I think I can do some good things here."
There will be one very familiar face for Teemu to catch up with when we visit Ewood Park, his international teammate Shefki Kuqi is now in the Blackburn ranks after a long journey to the Premiership via spells at Stockport, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich.
"My national teammate Shefki Kuqi plays there and he is the only one I know, although I know all the names. I have played against Robbie Savage and know they will be a difficult team to beat.
"Shefki is very, very strong and last year he was with Ipswich and scored a lot of goals. I am happy for him that he is now playing in the Premier League."
Meanwhile, Teemu insists reward must be taken from the Blackburn encounter to really make our promising start to the season count.
"That is for sure, if we lose against Blackburn the two games before don't mean so much. We must get something there."
