Teemu Tainio acknowledged it was a battle from start to finish in our final home game of the season against Bolton on Sunday.

The visitors pressed the boys deep back in their own half for the majority of the first half and Teemu reported there was a collective 'must do better' mindset during the interval.

There followed a period of dominance straight after the break during which time Aaron Lennon netted the decisive and crucial winning goal.

"That was a real battle!" sighed the midfielder after the game. "At first we were totally out of the game, they had a few chances and we were really lucky to be level at half-time.

"At the interval we told ourselves that it was such an important game and we needed to do more than we did in the first half. Martin wasn't angry, we all just realised we didn't play well and knew we had to do extra.

"I think we came out a little bit sharper and Super Lenny scored a very good goal. The defence was also very strong and secured the win for us.

"It was a good result in the end, although it was not the best game."
