The Finnish international midfielder is working his way back to fitness after his latest injury setback against Charlton on February 5.
Teemu limped off after just 20 minutes of that encounter at the Lane after damaging his ankle and knee in the second minute. It was a similar ankle problem to the one he sustained in the final seconds against Aston Villa a fortnight earlier and ruled him out against Fulham.
Throw in a knee injury that sidelined him for three games in December and then a bout of tonsillitis over the New Year period and you can understand why he hopes this latest injury will be his last of the season.
"I’m almost fit now and I hope to be there for the next game," said Teemu. "I will start training with the team soon and at last these injuries should be over.
"The last couple of months have been so frustrating for me.
"It’s the worst place to be - injured, not in the team and watching the games. I so much want to be out there, especially at this stage of the season.
"Hopefully it will be the last time I miss a game through injury this season."
It was jokingly suggested that it was about time Teemu changed his all-action style.
"I will never change my playing style," he responded. "I just think I’ve been unlucky with injuries and sometimes you just can’t avoid them. I would have to quit football if I was to change my style."
Teemu Tainio hopes to be back in the frame for our next Premiership match against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday March 5.
