Rated as one of the best young defenders in France, the strapping six foot two inch centre-half joined us from Auxerre and has enjoyed bedding into his new surroundings - making his debut in the pre-season friendly win against St Patrick's on Thursday.
One player who knows more than most about Younes is tigerish midfielder Teemu, who saw him develop in his time at Auxerre before joining us at the start of the 2005-06 season.
“First of all he’s a good lad and I’m happy he’s signed for Spurs,” said Teemu. “My last season in Auxerre was his first, he broke into the team and he’s very talented.
“He’s powerful, strong and quick but he’s a footballer as well and he can play in defensive midfield, I remember he did that earlier in his career.
“As I said, he’s a strong guy but it’s different in England, even if the strikers aren’t that big, they are always strong and good in the air. He’s has all the ingredients to play in England, he’s a good athlete but first we have to help him settle in.”
That shouldn’t pose too much of a problem for the French Under-21 skipper – as well as having a decent grip on the English language, there are a number of French speakers in the Club, including Teemu.
“It will be easier for him to settle because he can speak French with a few of the players – including me,” he added.
“When I went to France I didn’t speak a word of French, obviously no-one spoke Finnish and they didn’t even speak English! It was very hard, so it will be easier for him on that front. He’s a confident lad and I’m sure he will do well here.

Teemu Tainio has no doubts that Younes Kaboul has the raw materials required to succeed in the Barclays Premier League.
