The Finland international was joined by Haringey Councillor Liz Santry in handing out awards to children from local schools who had taken part in a poster competition encouraging greener school travel.
A number of different workshops had been running in order to promote walking and cycling to and from school and less use of cars, and as a result helping promote the Borough’s green agenda and make a contribution towards climate change.
Teemu said: “The environment is important to everyone so I think it’s good that the local authorities are doing something to encourage young people to get involved in making a difference.”
Cllr Santry added: “It was great to have Teemu handing out the prizes, the posters were very imaginative. I think the chance of meeting a Spurs player at the end of the project gives an extra incentive to the children. The event was a success but now we need to keep building on it.”
