The skipper joined the 300 club in terms of domestic goals in the 4-1 win against Sunderland while Gary hit his first since the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal back in April 2001.
Teddy hit the fourth but in the context of the game big Doc's header to put us 2-1 up on the stroke of half-time was vital.
"I was delighted for Gary to come on and score," said Ted. "He's a lovely lad who gives you 100 per cent all the time.
"When someone is playing in different positions, it's hard to become accomplished.
"But he's come on as centre-half and done very well, come on up front and scored his goal, put himself about and I was very pleased he got that goal."
Teddy Sheringham was just as delighted that Gary Doherty grabbed his first goal in two years last week as he was for his own 300 milestone.
