One of the greats of the club's recent history, Teddy played his last game for us against Blackburn Rovers before waving an emotional final goodbye after the team's lap of honour.
Teddy, who has travelled out with the squad in America for Wednesday night's clash against DC United, wanted to pass a personal thank-you via this website to those fans.
He said: "We haven't had the best of seasons and it all turned a bit disappointing over the last couple of months so I wasn't expecting the send off that I received.
"I really appreciated it. It was quite emotional on the day and even more so at the end of the game after we'd got beaten 4-0, obviously going down to 10 men made it very hard for us, but with that result I didn't expect that many people to stay in the ground as long as they did.
"It was great when I walked off the pitch and when we came out again and there were still so many supporters there.
"It's something that will stick with me for a very long time and I'd like to thank everyone for that.
"I'm pleased that they looked at my whole seven years at the club rather than just the last couple of months. It was very emotional. I was touched by the whole occasion."
Teddy Sheringham admitted he was touched by the reception he received from fans after he bid an emotional farewell at the Lane on Sunday.
