Teddy's farewell

Posted on 7 May 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

The Club has decided that it will not be renewing Teddy Sheringham's contract.

That decision has been made with an eye very much on the future and has been mutually agreed with 37-year-old Teddy, who now becomes a free agent.

Teddy, our Club captain, returned to White Hart Lane in May, 2001, after leaving Tottenham for Manchester United in June, 1997. An England international, he had originally joined us in 1991.

Commented manager Glenn Hoddle: "Teddy has performed a great service for us, not just on the field but by setting such a superb example for our younger players. He has also just completed another marvellous season for the Club and we wish him well in the future."
