Our last two performances have shown exactly what we should be about between now and the end of the season. You hear reports that teams like Manchester United are playing in cup finals every week, well that's how we've got to approach our own end to this campaign.
It's important because there are six or seven teams in a similar position to us all vying for a European place, so we have got to approach every game in such a determined fashion, with winning or at least getting something out of the matches our intention.
Every point we collect from now until May will prove to be very important when the final totals are totted up at the end of the season.
We had a solid, workmanlike performance against Newcastle United in our last game here and we were very unlucky not to win. It could have gone either way admittedly, but they ended up snatching it. Although we never controlled the game, the performance was based on teamwork with everyone pulling together in the same direction.
It was exactly the same against Chelsea. We started very well, got our noses in front and perhaps should have gone two or three up early on as we were dictating the game.
We could have won the match but from a captain's point of view it was a performance where everyone was pulling their weight and if we can continue with the kind of commitment and attitude we showed in those two matches, I think we've got a very good chance of getting into Europe.
It starts today with the game against Sunderland and follows on with Fulham's visit in two weeks time. These are matches which the public will expect us to win but football doesn't work like that.
The only way we will get the results we want is if we produce the right type of performance with the required work ethic, determination and mental strength and show patience to produce the quality we know we have.
Enjoy the game.
