Not that anyone would have noticed, given his fine execution of Stephen Carr's cross against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Teddy reports that he sustained the damage by accidently kicking the ground before a pre-Christmas fixture and that he was struggling slightly with the injury during the busy festive period - of which he started three out of the five games.
"I did my knee just before the Christmas period and I felt I could carry it through that time," said the skipper, who missed the Everton game last week and was a doubt leading up to the Villa game.
"It was a little big niggly, I was staying away from shooting in the warm-up and all that - that was how I did it by kicking the ground during one. It was opening up the joint when I did it.
"I had a rest for a week and it seems to have calmed it down. I'll be having treatment from now until the next game - hopefully it will be fine by then."
Teddy Sheringham has been giving pre-match shooting practice a miss due to the knee injury he suffered before Christmas.
