The striker is well aware of the potential displayed by the likes of promising young players like Jamie Slabber and Mark Yeates, but quickly pointed out that there is already youthful promise in the squad.
"Yes - also with the young lads in and around the first team now like Matthew Etherington and Tony Gardner, who is still a young lad," he pondered, before adding that blending experience with youth was a major attraction in returning to the club from Manchester United.
"Over these two years I was very optimistic about coming in and doing something with Tottenham because we've got a lovely blend of experience, youth and speed, plus slower players, but clever players.
"I really felt we were going to do something in these two years, but that hasn't quite materialised and we're all disappointed by that.
"You move on to the next thing. Tottenham move on and so do I."
Teddy Sheringham sees a bright future ahead for Tottenham with young players already in place or waiting to make the breakthrough into the first team.
