But the skipper was at fault for Liverpool's equasliser and held his hand up at Spurs Lodge on Monday.
He reflected: "We're very disappointed because when you get in front you want to hold onto it.
"It was a silly ball from me that put us in trouble, that got them rolling and I think their stronger squad showed from that moment.
"We still played well, a still had a go, still tried to get at them but it just didn't seem to happen on the day."
