Summer signing Paul Stalteri will also play for the first time after recovering from the calf injury he sustained in his final game for Werder Bremen last season.
Edgar completed his switch from Inter Milan this week and is pitched straight in against the 2003-04 Champions League winners.
Goalkeeper Robbo takes to the field for the first time since damaging knee ligaments against Aston Villa in May.
The only down side is that skipper Ledley King is out. He has missed a couple of days training this week with a groin injury and is not risked with the start of the Barclays Premiership just over a week away.
"Edgar is fit so he will play at least 45 minutes," said Head Coach Martin after training this afternoon.
"I think it's important because we have our first league game against Portsmouth coming up so hopefully he'll come through Saturday and be ready for next week.
"Paul Robinson is ready to play 45 minutes, so that's good news. Paul Stalteri is back after injury so he'll probably play 45 minutes with Stephen Kelly.
"The only thing is Ledley King is injured but at least we have a lot of options with Anthony Gardner, Calum Davenport, Goran Bunjevcevic, Noureddine Naybet is fit again and Tom Huddlestone could also play there.
"We have a big squad so we have to make a few decisions. We'll look to name 19 players because we'll need options for substitutions in the second half if it's neccessary.
"Overall, everything is looking fine and the only worry is Ledley."
In light of current events, the Club respectfully requests that supporters arrive earlier than usual for matches as increased searching will be taking place at the turnstiles. Furthermore, we would ask that large bags are not brought to the Stadium for the foreseeable future. We thank you for your co-operation.
Martin Jol has confirmed that Edgar Davids will make his debut in Saturday's friendly against FC Porto - with Paul Robinson also back in action at the Lane.
