The German star completed 90 minutes for the reserves on Monday and finally returns after damaging his knee against West Ham in October.
It's been a nightmare spell for Christian - he's played just 105 minutes of competitive first team football since his career-threatening thigh injury on Boxing Day 2002.
Christian's return is the only good news for this weekend though.
Darren Anderton (tendonitis) and Mauricio Taricco (foot) are out after picking up injuries at Manchester City last week.
They join Dean Richards (calf), Jamie Redknapp (knee), Gus Poyet (suspended) and Fredi Kanoute (international duty) on the missing list.
Acting boss David Pleat reported this afternoon: "Darren has a bit of tendonitis on the back of his Achilles that forced him off at half-time last week.
"Tano went into a tackle and jarred his foot. He has bruising but the scans look okay and we'll have to wait and see on that one."
Christian Ziege is back in the squad for tomorrow's Premiership clash at Fulham.
