The midfielder is the only additional concern for boss Glenn Hoddle with Steffen Iversen coming through training this week.
But Ledley King (Achilles) and Dean Richards (knee, ankle) are not ready to return and long-termers Steve Carr, Steffen Freund, Les Ferdinand and Goran Bunjevcevic remain out.
Young midfielder John Jackson has been added to the squad.
Boss Glenn said: "We've no Ledley back, no Deano back and no-one is coming out of the treatment room.
"Gary Doherty and Steve Clemence have been in the squad for the last couple of weeks and that's about it.
"There is a slight doubt on Tim Sherwood but we'll make a decision tomorrow on him.
"He had a nasty gash and the surgeon has to see him to decide what's going on in the gash, to see if there's an infection in there. We might not take a risk.
"Steffen Iversen is fine. He's trained the last couple of days, tested on his heading and there is a little swelling but we're hoping he'll be okay."
Emile Heskey, on the bench against Derby after recovering from a hamstring pull, will be pushing for a place in Liverpool's starting line-up alongside Michael Owen. Nicolas Anelka could drop to the bench.
Abel Xavier could return at right back, with Jamie Carragher switching to the left and John Arne Riise moving into midfield.
Tim Sherwood faces a late check on a gashed shin before today's big televised clash against Liverpool.
