Glenn Hoddle reports that there is a 'glimmer' of hope that Christian Ziege could feature again before the end of the season.
The German international is doing well in his rehabilitation following thigh surgery after the Charlton game on Boxing Day. It was initially thought that next season would be a more realistic target.
"That is one bright hope for us," said the boss. "There is a glimmer of a chance that he might be able to play again before the end of the season. He is coming on nicely."
Robbie Keane and Steffen Iversen are absent for the visit of Fulham, with Glenn revealing that Steffen's back problem will be assessed after another week of rest.
"He has had a two-week period of rest. He will rest for another and then we'll assess him after that."
Glenn added that Jamie Redknapp is to resume training very soon and that Anthony Gardner's hamstring injury is improving.
