Aaron Lennon and Pascal Chimbonda face late fitness tests before Thursday night's UEFA Cup clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

Aaron Lennon and Pascal Chimbonda face late fitness tests before Thursday night's UEFA Cup clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

Both players travelled with the squad to Germany after knee trouble - Pascal has been out since the win against Chelsea, Aaron missed international duty for England and Sunday's trip to Blackburn.

Martin Jol reported: "Pascal Chimbonda is back and we'll have a look at him in training, Aaron Lennon looked fit again yesterday and we'll also make a late assessment on him.

"Hopefully both will play but we'll look at what the best choice is. They have to be 100 per cent fit, so we will have a good look, talk to them and make a decision."

There was more positive news for Martin with both Calum Davenport and Teemu Tainio back in the squad.

Calum returns after a groin injury sustained in the Carling Cup win at MK Dons in October while Teemu is back two months after hernia surgery. Both played for the reserves on Monday, Teemu scoring twice in the 3-2 win against Villa.

Paul Stalteri (knee) and Jermaine Jenas (calf) remain out.

Martin added: "Davenport looked fine for the reserves, Stalteri is not fit yet and still in London, JJ might have a chance for Wigan on Sunday and Tainio is back in the squad after scoring two gals for the reserves."
