The midfielder picked up a knee problem in the friendly match against Celtic at the Lane and, after treatment, Glenn describes him as 'touch and go' for Saturday.
"Darren has been in the treatment room for a week now," reported Glenn. "He's done some running and we're hoping he might be recovered for the weekend. But that's touch and go at the moment."
Ledley King and Alton Thelwell returned to training on Thursday and both played in a training match. Glenn says he is trying to take their minds off their respective problems and get them on the ball again before embarking on a physical programme.
"Ledley and Alton have been thrown in at the deep end. We're just trying to see if we can take their minds off their injuries.
"They are improving for sure and we're looking to see if we can get them training a little bit with the ball first and then do their fitness later on.
"They've got a bit to go before they are going to be match fit."
Further good news was Les Ferdinand featuring in a training ground match against West Ham on Tuesday. The striker, while in training, was unable to play games before due to a pin remaining in the wrist he injured towards the end of last season.
"Les has been able to train all pre-season and do a lot of running and work with the ball. He just couldn't play matches while the pin was in there.
"His fitness levels are quite high, he's not match sharp but has had a good pre-season physically. He's ready and waiting in the wings."
Squad: Keller, Sullivan, Bunjevcevic, Carr, Doherty, Gardner, Perry, Richards, Taricco, Thatcher, Davies, Etherington, Redknapp, Acimovic, Ferdinand, Iversen, Rebrov, Sheringham.
Darren Anderton is doubtful for Saturday's opening encounter of the season against Everton at Goodison.
