Aaron Lennon is back in the squad for Saturday's Premiership clash at Aston Villa.

The flying winger has been grounded for the last month with a knee problem but has shown enough in training this week for Martin Jol to consider him for Villa Park.

The good news continues with Jermain Defoe and Pascal Chimbonda overcoming foot and calf injuries respectively while Anthony Gardner is back in the squad after a hip problem.

Skipper Ledley King will be the subject of a late fitness test on his knee - as will Mido, who has a thigh problem.

Lee Young-Pyo is out after suffering an ankle injury on international duty for South Korea, joining Teemu Tainio and Steed Malbranque (both hernia) on the sidelines.

Martin reported after training on Friday: "Jermain had a knock and he's fine, he's travelling with us and so is Pascal, who looked okay in training.

"The very positive thing is that Aaron Lennon looked so good that we've taken the decision to take him with us to probably be involved tomorrow. Anthony Gardner is also back in the squad.

"The negative thing is that Mido will need a late fitness test on a thigh injury. We'll have a look at Ledley King tomorrow and Young-Po Lee isn't with us, he has a knock on his ankle from his game with South Korea."
