The versatile left-sided player picked up a foot injury in the Boxing Day victory at Norwich City.
Head Coach Martin Jol reported: "I wanted to have two, three, maybe four players fresh for Tuesday if possible because it's a very difficult programme.
"But Thimothee Atouba was injured with a foot problem. You hope to have everyone 100 per cent fit but Thimothee isn't.
"We used Reto Ziegler, he had to come on, Jamie Redknapp was on the bench also with Jermain Defoe and Anthony Gardner is fresh.
"Jermain was on the bench because we have three very good strikers and we knew we had four games ahead of us."
Martin will also be without Sean Davis and Simon Davies - recovering from a knee injury and virus respectively - while Stephen Kelly (knee) also remains a doubt.
Thimothee Atouba is the main doubt for Tuesday's Barclays Premiership clash against Crystal Palace at the Lane.
