Ledley King, who returned at Bolton after injury, Michael Brown and Simon Davies, who departed early at the Reebok feeling his thigh, are all expected to be fit for the big derby.
Acting boss David said: "We've had better news as the week's progressed. Michael Brown, who played at Bolton with a bit of a sore ankle, has come through training and Ledley King is okay after his first game back at Bolton.
"Mauricio Taricco played the second half at Bolton and Simon Davies, who came off late, both look okay.
"Darren Anderton and Dean Richards have trained this week and Dean played for the reserves, so we're looking healthier squad-wise.
"Stephen Carr also told me this morning that he feels much better after an injection in his back that he's needed for a while and hopefully he'll be fit and raring to go once he's served his suspension."
The full-back has pulled out of Ireland's friendly in Poland next week and is fighting for a return to fitness to coincide with the end of his three-match ban - he's available again against Blackburn.
*If you are coming to the game on Sunday, please ensure that you arrive at the ground in good time to take your seat as there will be security checks at the turnstiles.
