Taricco's new deal

Posted on 21 October 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Mauricio Taricco has a signed a two-year extension to his contract to keep him at the club until 2005.

Signed from Ipswich Town in November 1998, 'Tano' has overcome a nightmare nine-month spell on the sidelines between September last year and May to star this season.

Injury to Stephen Carr has seen the Argentinian in a right wing-back role and he has grabbed his opportunity with both hands.

Glenn Hoddle said after Monday's win against Derby County: "He's a great left or right-back in a four and we've convinced him he can play in a wing-back role as well.

"I thought he was excellent. To be honest Tano came onto a very good game probably when we went off the boil a bit and that's a credit to the player.

"It's easy when everything is in-sync and everyone's playing well but when there was a bit of anxiety creeping in he got us going again.

"His use of the ball, crossing, he got behind them a few times, nearly scored himself, it was a credit to him."
