Taricco was reported to be facing a three-match suspension for appearing to slap Mario Melchiot in January, but the wing-back has been fined £5,000 for improper conduct.
He will now serve a combined five-game suspension for dismissals at Manchester United and Chelsea in the Premiership.
However, during the week of his first suspension that starts on Wednesday, Taricco will be available to play reserve team football and could feature against Arsenal at Stevenage on Thursday or against Watford at Vicarage Road next Tuesday.
He will next be eligible for first team duty in time for the trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday April 20.
Mauricio Taricco will not be unavailable for the remainder of the season after escaping a Football Association ban for an incident in the Worthington Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
