Tano on Juninho

Posted on 23 October 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Mauricio Taricco is looking forward to locking horns again with Juninho on Sunday.

Our Argentinian full-back says his fellow South American is Zola-like in his qualities and a player he admires.

The Brazilian, on the bench of late, is in his third spell at Middlesbrough and caused havoc in our drubbing at the Riverside last season.

"He's a real talent," said 'Tano'. "Personally I like those kind of players. He's a little like Zola, although Zola is at another level, but Juninho is like that and I love those players - players who trick players, who get on the ball who pass it simple and sometimes do things you don't see every day."

Juninho, if he plays, will take up a similar role to Steve McManaman at Manchester City - just in behind the strikers, linking play with clever angles and passes.

"The difference between McManaman and the players I mentioned, Juninho and Zola, is the physique," added Tano.

"McManaman is quite strong, big and has pace. These players are not as strong but still great players and I appreciate that.

"It is a lot tougher without the physical attributes some players have. These players are quite small, not the quickest and still great players. That is why I appreciate them more."
