Tano back in the running

Posted on 25 July 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Mauricio Taricco started his first pre-season game at Colchester on Tuesday and says he feels good after suffering a twisted ankle.

Tano played the first half as Glenn again elected to give as many players as possible a run-out. He says he uses these games purely for fitness purposes and is glad the boss allows the team to play their way into condition.

"I feel good," said Mauricio after the game. "I twisted my ankle in the middle of the week but I can't complain. I played 45 minutes and I feel alright.

"It's all about fitness. That is what I use these games for, to run and run and try to gain fitness. It was a long break and I need to play, train and try to stay fit. When I have a break like that I lose fitness so I have to work hard.

"You have to build up fitness gradually. The gaffer likes us to play and gain fitness by playing, which is good, but were are also training between games."

On player who is playing his way into the minds of Spurs fans is new boy Milenko Acimovic, who again displayed flashes of his undoubted skill at Layer Road. He has caught the eye of Mauricio, who is looking forward to playing more with the Slovenian.

"He's is a good technical player, you can see that on the pitch. I'm looking forward to playing more games with him, with Jamie and get to know what they like and them get to know us. That's what these games are for."
