TALKING LEEDS

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

LEEDS ARE LED by a shrewd football man, very experienced and the arrows that are being aimed in his direction will bounce off him.

Terry Venables has seen it all before and he has enough wit, humour and motivational powers to lift the group. He will particularly look forward to coming to Tottenham and will want to beat us.

It's just as important for us though after the last three results went against us.

What do Leeds bring to the party? Well, if you look at the start of the season, five or six of their players were being nominated for England. Bowyer got his chance against Portugal but has now drifted out of it for whatever reasons, many people would find that strange on footballing grounds. Woodgate was spoken about and certainly Robinson, the goalkeeper, was as well.

It's in midfield where they've lost players. Bakke, Dacourt and Bowyer. They have lots of injuries and the team that played against Bolton was unrecognisable from the squad that Terry would like to pick.

I think one of the problems Leeds have is where to integrate and maximise Harry Kewell. Do they play him up the middle? Do they play him wide? He is wonderful in the air, has a wonderful turn of pace and can go past people. I think a couple of years ago, in the George Graham era here, George would suggest that he was the one player that any team in Italy would like to buy in this country.

The point is, on Sunday, Leeds will be very strong opposition. They have counter-attacked very well in Florence and West Ham and I think it will be a game for goals.

When things are going against you, you can fight doggedly and earn a point but win little praise. But if you come and have a go, you can reverse a lot of the down criticism very quickly.

Although managers talk about 'grinding out results' that is just a passage they use at the end of games for a boring game where they have fought out a draw. I understand that but I believe if teams believe in themselves, and Leeds must if they have the talent of Smith, Kewell, Fowler, Viduka and the quality we have as well, then I don't think we can expect a defensive-minded game. I think both sides will go for it.
