Leeds United U17s 1-3 Spurs

Jimmy Neighbour sung the praises of his Under-17s side after their fantastic play-off victory at Leeds United.

Goals from Jamie O'Hara and Stuart Lewis put us 2-0 up, Leeds replied but skipper Mark Wright lashed home the clincher from 30 yards after 70 minutes to set up a semi-final against Everton at Spurs Lodge on Saturday.

Coach Jimmy beamed: "It was a teriffic performance and I'm absolutely delighted for the boys.

"They showed great team spirit all weekend and the way they played the game was outstanding.

"Leeds won their division are a strong side and we knew it would be a tough game.

"The start was very even, both teams had one or two chances and they we went 1-0 up, Andy Barcham broke away, the goalkeeper did well to save his shot but Jamie O'Hara followed up for the rebound.

"We made it 2-0 with a great goal. Charlie Daniels got behind their defence down the left side and Stuart Lewis met his cross.

"Unfortunately they got a goal back just before half-time with a corner we shouldn't really have given away and then we've not defended the cross very well.

"So we went in at half-time at 2-1 rather than 2-0 and we knew it would be tough and Leeds would come at us.

"But we had a couple of chances as well and Mark Wright then struck a 30-yarder, one of the cleanest strikes he'll ever hit and it flew in for 3-1. We just needed to defend it for the rest of the game and they did that well."
