Swede heads home

Posted on 16 June 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

The club have agreed terms with Swedish side Malmo for the release of under-19 player Jon Jonsson, who will return to his homeland after a season in England.

Jonsson, 18 in July, began his career at IFK Hassleholm before playing a trial game for Spurs under-17s towards the end of season 1999-2000. He signed for the club in July 2000, but struggled to settle and was loaned to Malmo from December to January. The switch is now to be made permanent.

The midfielder has won caps for Sweden at both under-16 and under-17 level.

Meanwhile, our under-16 player Nicky Eyre has been selected for the England under-17 squad for the Nationwide Tournament featuring England, Brazil and Italy.

The competition is being staged at Wigan Athletic FC and Bolton Wanderers FC from July 8-15.
