Swansea vs Spurs - Mauricio's preview

Posted on 14 December 2014  - 10:35

Mauricio Pochettino is determined to start a big week on a positive note at Swansea.

Victory at the Liberty Stadium could lift us over Liverpool (who play United at 1.30pm today), the Swans and Newcastle into seventh in the Premier League, just two points behind Southampton and Arsenal in fifth and sixth.

To do so, we’ll have to topple a Swansea team that have won five and lost just one of their eight matches at home so far this term.

After the trip to Wales we return to the Lane for the Capital One Cup quarter-final against Newcastle on Wednesday night.

“It’s a tough game, Swansea is a very good team but we have to look forward, to be positive and go there with the ambition of getting three points,” said Mauricio.

“We know that Swansea started the season well and they have very good players but we are confident in our skill.

“It’s a busy period and we need to try to get as many points as possible. The first game is Swansea, after that Newcastle in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup – every game and every competition is important.

“But we concentrate on Swansea first. Our away form is good and hopefully we’ll have a good performance and a positive result.”
