Sheffield United U19s 2-2 Spurs

Two super strikes secured a battling point for our U19s in their league opener.

The lads showed plenty of character to come from behind twice to grab a share of the spoils.

In a classic 'game of two halves' on a sloping pitch, United had the best of the first half and went 1-0 up after 20 minutes from a break down the left side.

We were soon level as Mark Hughes volleyed home from the edge of the box following a clearance from a corner but the home side hit straight back to lead 2-1 at the break.

We got on top in the second half and equalised again when John Sutton controlled and drilled a low shot home from 22 yards.

"They had a couple of chances at the end of the first half and to be honest, I was happy to go in just 2-1 down," admitted boss Pat Holland.

"But we were much brighter in the second half, John Sutton scored a cracking goal, we brough Mark Yeates on with 20 minutes left and it looked just a matter of time before we scored again, but it wasn't to be."

Spurs U19s: Burch, Perry, McKie, Hughes, Henry, Foster, Noto (Yeates, 70), Black, Sutton, Slabber, Wettner. Unused subs: Rutherford, Ford.
