Sunderland have advised fans travelling to the Stadium of Light to allow additional time for their journey with the Great North Run also taking place on Sunday.

We take on the Black Cats at 1.30pm and with the various starting times of the Great North Run off just after 10am, the region’s transport network is expected to be extremely busy. To give our fans an idea of the numbers of runners - there were 57,000 entries in the Great North Run last year!

Those attending the game are advised to check for any road closures which may be in place for the Great North Run and to also leave additional time for their journey both to and from the stadium, as roads, the Metro system, buses and trains will all be experiencing additional demand.

Turnstiles at the Stadium of Light will open from midday and the popular Fan Zone, located at the south east corner of the stadium and offering food, drink, live music and a range of fun activities, will open from 11am on Sunday. Learn more about Sunderland's Fan Zone HERE...

The matchday ‘Park and Ride’ facility will be available from 12noon and operates from the Sunderland Enterprise Park just off the A1231. Pick-up and set-down points on the Enterprise Park are clearly marked. Buses run every five minutes before the game and regularly afterwards until all supporters have been transported back to their cars.

‘Park and Walk’ facilities are also available in the city centre from two sites at the University of Sunderland – the A183 (Chester Road) and St. Peter’s. Both are clearly signposted and supporters should follow the signs for Matchday Parking.
