Hugo Lloris pinpointed the team’s work off the ball as key to victory at Sunderland.

Our first victory of the campaign was secured by 15-pass move and finish from Ryan Mason at the Stadium of Light.

Giving a typically-honest appraisal, skipper Hugo conceded we perhaps weren’t at our best with the ball - despite that winning goal - but gave a glowing report in terms of our work without it.

“With the ball, we can improve a lot, but we were better without the ball, the spirit was great, we were aggressive and we won a lot of challenges, that’s important in football and especially in the Premier League,” said Hugo. “The spirit is the key if you want to get results.

“It was so important to win the game. We needed three points to get confidence. We were a bit under pressure before this game, so now we can enjoy this first win but we need to continue in the same way.”
