Sunday League update

Posted on 23 May 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Twenty five year old Louis Gavin has just been named the top manager in the fantasy football game Sunday League, the world's biggest and funniest online football management game.

For his efforts as manager of Tottenham he wins a spanking new Spurs football jersey and 10,000 credits for his team. Louis flexes his managerial muscles in Conference 1, League 2, Division 4, North Region, and has plenty to be optimistic about for the new season, which sees him battling it out with teams like SL Mallorca, Real Mullet and Keano Army.

He has a star-studded squad, with Kasey Keller between the posts, Ledley King and Anthony Gardner holding up the rear, Simon Davies and Gustavo Poyet running the midfield and Teddy Sheringham and Robbie Keane terrorising opponents' defences.

Gavin works at De Montfort University in Leicester as a gym instructor and sports therapist. He's been a Spurs fan for all of his life and goes to as many games as he can. He also follows the Republic of Ireland, and his favourite player is Robbie Keane. Gavin also plays in goal in a successful 4-aside team in Leicester and still dreams of playing in goal for Spurs in the future!

Understandably the top manager thoroughly enjoys the game: "I really enjoy playing Sunday league, as it's easily accessible and provides great fun between friends, it gets very competitive in my league, as I know quite a few people who are in there.

"It's also very rewarding, as at the end of the season you get to win prizes and they are constantly changing so there is always something new to try and win. I have met a lot of new friends in the forum and learnt a lot of good tactics as well."

And learn he has! Good luck for the new season Louis, and to anyone who's brave enough to try to take your title from you!
