Look beyond Quinn and Phillips and one player has led from the front as Sunderland battle for European football — Don Hutchison.
Hutchison has been in fine form for both Sunderland and Scotland and has already hit double-figures in terms of goals for the season from his normal berth in midfield.
In-form goalkeeper Neil is Hutchison's team-mate at international level but faces the prospect of keeping him out at the Stadium of Light.
Neil commented: “Don is a player in good form. He’s been that way with Scotland every time we’ve met up.
“We’ve played him sometimes in midfield, sometimes up front and he does a good job in every position.
“It’s the same at Sunderland as well and I noticed last time that he played up front with Kevin Phillips. We’ll have to see where he turns up on Saturday but he’s a very good player and one to be watched.”
‘Sully’, heading for a landslide win in the Official Spurs Website’s Player of the Month for March, insisted it for the best that we were back in action on Tuesday, a 2-1 win against Bradford City, after Sunday’s semi-final dismay.
We didn’t have a lot of time to sit down and sulk, we had to get up and get on with it,” he said. “We’ve some big games to come and it’s a tough run in.
“Everyone was bitterly disappointed after Sunday. We were in the next day trying to get it out of our system. The next job was Bradford. That was a good game and good result and we now want to finish as high as possible.”
