Study Support

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

This term the Study Support Centre has welcomed 120 new students from four local schools.

They are Bruce Grove Primary, St Thomas More, Risley Avenue Primary, Park View Academy, Lea Valley Primary, Greig City Academy, St Francis de Sales and Northumberland Park. We hope they enjoy their time with us.

The students will be concentrating on computer skills, literacy and numeracy, as well as personal skills such as listening, cooperating and sharing. A major part of the students learning is with the Learning Mentors who assist the pupils throughout the week with their studies. We are lucky enough to have a team of skilled mentors from the local area. Their contribution to the students' progress is essential and is a key aspect in the success of the Study Support Centre.

As part of their time with us many students are able to attend a game and on Wednesday, January 29, some lucky pupils from Greig City Academy got the chance to come along to the Newcastle United game and cheer on Spurs. For most of the pupils it was the first time they had attended a Premiership game.

We didn't get the result we wanted but on a freezing cold evening all the pupils were very enthusiastic, trying to keep warm by clapping and shouting for Spurs and reminding everyone "There's only one Keano."

Here is what Glanville and Yanick had to say about the game:

"We thought it was wicked. Really exciting. It's the best game we've ever seen. It was fantastic to see all the famous Tottenham players and the Newcastle ones too. That Poyet goal was definitely onside!"

It has been all change at the Study Centre this term. I've taken over from Anna Rimington while she is on maternity leave, so I'd like to introduce myself. I'm David Lyall and my background is in Secondary English teaching. I ran some poetry workshops at the centre last year so I'm delighted to come back. I'd like to thank everyone at Tottenham for making me feel at home.

Also congratulations from the study support team to Anna and Andy on the birth of their son Joseph.
