England international cricketers Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali were bowled over by our training facilities when they dropped in at Hotspur Way yesterday (Thursday, May 5).

The highly-rated duo, who represent Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire respectively, took time out of their busy County Championship schedules to pay a visit to our Enfield training base.

And they were suitably impressed with what they saw!

“What an amazing facility you guys have here – everything is five-star,” said Broad, 29. “I’ve always been a believer that what happens off the pitch really does help the players on the field and you can see why Spurs have had such a brilliant season.

“It’s absolutely world class, even down to the lunches – it’s beautiful and I think the Spurs players know that they are very, very lucky to be here.”

Ali, 28, concurred: “The facilities are very, very impressive,” he said. “I knew they’d be good but I didn’t think they’d be as good as I’ve seen. It’s great to be here.”

During their visit, the pair linked up with Harry Kane and Tom Carroll and put our players’ cricket skills to the test – with a certain Mauricio Pochettino (pictured below) and his coaching team watching on from the balcony with interest!

“You can tell Harry played a lot of cricket when he was a youngster – he has real hand-eye coordination and I think he hit Moeen into the changing rooms!” smiled Broad. “I think he’s chosen the right career if I’m brutally honest, having scored over 20 goals in two seasons running!”

Broad, who, along with Ali is gearing up for England’s summer series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, was also highly complimentary of the way our team has performed on the pitch this season.

“It’s been an incredible title race,” he added. “One thing I’ve admired about Spurs is giving young guys a chance. Obviously things have gone right given where Spurs are in the league and the young guys are succeeding.

“The likes of Dele Alli and Harry Kane – they’re both still so young. These guys have come in and been key first team members at a young age, which proves that everything that goes on at the club is right. I think Spurs have gained a lot of followers this year with how they’ve gone about things, the way they give young guys a go and the style they’ve played with.”

Harry and Tom also put the duo through their paces with a football and Broad revealed that he often enjoys a kick-about with his own team-mates in the warm-up ahead of each day’s play in England’s test matches.

“We love playing a bit of football – it’s integral to the team spirit,” he added. “It has really moved us on a long way. There’s a lot of banter in the changing room but also a serious side to it. It’s only a quick six or seven minutes of five-a-side, three touch, but it really gets the boys going.”

Keep an eye out on our official social media channels in the coming weeks to see Broad and Ali teaming up with Harry and Tom for some exclusive cricket and football challenges.
