Stories from the season...

Posted on 2 June 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

We've had an excellent response to the call for your tales from the season just gone - here is the first of your stories.

My tale is from our 5th round replay against Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Woe to Nottingham Noe!!!

A friend and I embarked on our journey to Nottingham in the morning, we went up on the day of the game and stayed overnight in a hotel - to make a night of our anticipated win!!

The day started off well when our train left on time. When we arrived in Nottingham we hadn't got the full address of the hotel, we just knew it was by the riverside... easy enough you'd think, especially as you come out of Nottingham train station and the river is bang in front of you.

We walked along the river bank and we walked and we walked, an hour later we are still no nearer our destination then the heavens opened and within the space of 30 minutes we were drenched by rain, hail and snow - and were still no nearer to our destination.

As you can imagine we were not in a great mood so we decided to take shelter in Sainsburys and make a call to the hotel for directions (I know we should have done it sooner but does any man admit they do not know where they are going?) and the receptionist informs us that we are nowhere near the hotel and have walked miles out the way.

After a lot of cursing we followed the receptionist's directions, stopping occasionally to ask a local if we were heading in the right direction and eventually, after walking for miles and a good three hours later we arrived at the hotel, wet, in a bad mood and still cursing.

We got a taxi to the City Ground (again something we should have done at the start but thought we'd save a couple of quid by walking!) went in, had a few beers and a sing song then prepared for the match.

Noe Pamarot turned in a fantastic performance on the night capped by scoring the opener which eased the tension especially after the journey we'd had to get there!

The game finished 3-0, we went straight back to the hotel after abandoning the post match drink plans due to very painful blisters and worn out shoes!!

The things we do to follow the mighty Spurs eh!
