Mauricio Pochettino says our mentality is key as we prepare to face Stoke City at the Britiannia Stadium today (Saturday, May 9, 3pm).

Always one of the toughest trips in the Premier League, we go to the Britannia Stadium to face a Stoke team currently sitting 10th in the Premier League but on a run of one win in the last seven.

“We recognise that Stoke have played well during the season and put together some good results but the most important thing is our performance,” said Mauricio.

“We have to go with the right mentality and try to get the three points.

“The Premier League is the toughest competition in the world and you need to compete every week. This is one of the hardest games.”

Mauricio took plenty of positives from the performance despite a 1-0 loss last time out against City at the Lane.

Afterwards, he pointed to the ‘small details’ and said that will be vital again at Stoke. “That is what football is about at this high level,” he added. “That’s where we need to improve.

“It was a shame we didn’t take any points against Manchester City. We played well and I think we are in a good way at the moment, but we still need to be better.”

We have three matches remaining in the Premier League - Stoke today, Hull in our final home game of the campaign on Saturday week (May 16, 3pm) and the season’s finale at Everton on Sunday, May 24.
